Project One Reflection

I had a blast with this project! At first, creating a functioning and aesthetically pleasing website completely from scratch seemed like an impossible hill to climb, especially since I wanted to prove to my instructor and myself that I could go above and beyond and make a super impressive site. I have never worked with HTML code before, but after just a little bit of exposure, I picked up the patterns and found my rhythm. I started with the bare bones and added various levels of headings, paragraphs, lists, links, and images with alt text. I created a CSS file to stylize my site that became many, many scroll lengths long by the time I had all my fun with it. I added custom colors, animations, and image effects (the hardest thing I did in this project was blurring and gray-scaling the images on the homepage when hovered over!). I added quite a bit of content and implemented a "Jump to" function on each page. I have classes and IDs galore! One of my biggest struggles was consolidating my code. I had a lot of trial and error; I had to close my computer and come back to issues on several occasions. The horizontal lines were a major source of frustration. I could not figure out how to get them to align to the side of the page I wanted them to, and getting the text to align with them was also a struggle. I am very proud of this site as it is a reflection of another major area of pride in my life. I had never played hockey before college, and I am thrilled every day to get to play and have so much fun on the UGA Women's team. My goals with HTML are within reach! I hope to soon be able to master more complex layouts, animations, and especially interactive features. There were several visions that I had for this project that were unattainable with my current skill level, but I am excited to learn more and bring those ideas to life.
